Our first Open Air Screening of 2022, and we couldn't be more chuffed that its this amazing film with this legend of a man!

Our first full capacity screening since pre-pandemic and a first for a wonderful collaboration between Happenings, Motherland Films, Damien Dempsey, Coolmine Charity and with funding and partnership support from Dublin City Council. This special screening of "Love Yourself Today" will be a moving and meaningful event, designed to lift people up and give inspiration in these challenging times.

"Love Yourself Today" is the critically acclaimed documentary which centres around the music of Irish singer songwriter Damien Dempsey but also turns the lens onto his fans. Every Christmas in Dublin, the crowds gather for Damo’s Christmas gig at Vicar Street. For many, these shows have become a cathartic ritual, a safe space where emotions can be laid bare. This film captures all of that and more. Released in Ireland to universal acclaim from critics, fans and cinemagoers, Love Yourself Today has become the must see, breakout film of 2021.

Through the prism of the concert, we meet Dempsey and three members of the audience. We hear their stories, unravel their grief and find the light in the darkness through communal art. With themes of addiction, loss but also hope and positivity, Dempsey’s music often reflects his fans' pain, alleviates their anguish and ultimately provides peace as they ‘sing all their cares away’. Part documentary, part concert film, Love Yourself Today is an emotive celebration of modern spirituality and the power of music to heal.

This is an open air screening, so watch the weather and dress appropriately. Bring what you will sit on, blankets and warm comfy stuff!!

7.30pm - Screening - Love Yourself Today

8.40pm - Conversation and Q&A with Damian Dempsey and Ross Killeen

9.25pm - Raffle with main prize a custom built guitar signed by Damo

9.30pm - Event ends
