On the auspicious Eve of New Year’s Eve, Happenings presents an inspired collaboration hosted by Donal Dineen with Dublin-based music blogger Nialler9 curating music. There will be surprises and delights from Simon and Al of Synth Eastwood, yummy Irish artisan food offerings throughout from Gruel Guerilla and whiskey and craft beers to, all in the ticket price. The event will run from 6.30pm with a screening of the 1960 classic “The Apartment” followed by live music from Lisa O’Neill, Come on Live Long and Chequerboard. Donal Dineen and Sorca Lou will take us into the night, grooving some serious toons. The venue for this unique event will be The Sugar Club.
New Year’s Thieves offers you the perfect evening to steal away from the Christmas stupor and lose yourself in a very special, cosy and intimate movie/music experience. Allow this chilled festive gig to enthrall your senses and nurture your soul in anticipation of the turn of another great Dublin year.
The Sugar Club evokes memories of the 1930s; dandies, flappers and prohibition, but even though it feels like the perfect cabaret venue, the Sugar Club is a constant surprise with an eclectic mix of live music and themed club nights. Burlesque shows, movies screenings, hip hop and soul gigs, creative showcases, the Sugar Club is that sweet, sweet evening in Dublin. Its uniqueness comes in its layout and size, with the place feeling packed with little more than 200 people in there. Perfect for intimate gigs and straight up intimacy.
