CHEQUERBOARD "An exceptional home grown talent. It is to Lambert's great credit that his music stays with you and tugs strongly at the heart strings" John Meager - The Irish Independent
A rare opportunity to see Dublin based guitarist John Lambert (Chequerboard) playing music from his recent offering 'The Unfolding' - the album that was named one of the top 10 albums of 2013 by Jim Carroll of The Irish Times. Produced by Stephen Shannon and mixed by Ken Thomas (Sígur Rós, Cocteau Twins and M83), Carroll described the album as: "Dazzling... full of mesmerizing guitar lines, dramatic strings and serene atmospherics."
Live, John utilizes a plethora of machinery to create layered and textured guitar passages that are as intricate, haunting and detailed as they are melodic and purposeful. This unique sound will be augmented with contributions from cellist Mary Barnecutt. Perfect for park listening this performance is also a lovely warm up for the Happenings/ HomeBeat event “Another Love Story” at which John is appearing the following weekend.
"Lambert's gorgeous acoustic guitar playing and beautifully textured electronica, create a mood and feeling that is intoxicating. A record of serene and shimmering beauty" Paul Page - Entertainment.ie

COME ON LIVE LONG Come On Live Long self released their debut album Everything Fall last summer to rapturous reviews. The Times called it an impressive and accomplished beginning while blogger Nialler9 called them one of the best new live bands in Ireland. COLL are known for their fast-paced, groove-laden alternative rock sound sitting side by side with loud atmospherics and slow burning electronics. Their two singers, Robert Ardiff and Louise Gaffney, trade vocal lines seamlessly throughout the LP but it's in live performance that Come On Live Long really shine. In the last year the band have played on stages at Electric Picnic, Other Voices, Castlepalooza, Body and Soul & Camden Crawl as well as supporting Alabama 3 and When Saints Go Machine. They come to Fitzwilliam Square after a blistering set at the Wonderlust Stage at Body and Soul 2014.
